Final Grade Calculator
Part of your final grade is already fixed, but a test, assignment or exam is still coming. Enter your current average, the percentage already fixed, and your goal to see instantly what grade you still need on the remaining part.
結果
7.75
Grade needed
- Achievable?
- Yes
How this was calculated
- 1Find the remaining weight100% − 60% = 40%
- 2Solve for the needed grade(7×100 − 6.5×60) ÷ 40 = 7.75
公式
Needed grade = (target × 100 − current × known%) ÷ (100 − known%)
This is the reverse of a weighted average formula: you know the desired end result and work backwards to find what the last, still-unknown part must be. The smaller the remaining weight, the more extreme the needed grade can be.
ステップ解説
- 1Enter your current average for the part that is already fixed.
- 2Enter what percentage of the final grade that average already represents.
- 3Enter your desired final grade and read off what grade you need on the remaining part.
計算例
60% is fixed at 6.5, you want an average of 7
→ You need at least 7.75 on the remaining part (40%).
80% is fixed at 7, you want an average of 7.5
→ You need at least 9.5 on the remaining part (20%).
50% is fixed at 5.5, you want an average of 6
→ You need at least 6.5 on the remaining part (50%).
Reference table
| Already known % | Grade needed | Achievable? |
|---|---|---|
| 20% | 7.25 | Yes |
| 40% | 7.67 | Yes |
| 50% | 8.00 | Yes |
| 60% | 8.50 | Yes |
| 80% | 11.00 | No |
At 80% already known, a grade of 11 is needed — not achievable, since 10 is the maximum. Use the calculator above for your own figures.
よくある間違い
- Forgetting that a result above 10 means the goal is no longer achievable.
- Mixing up the known and remaining percentage, causing you to calculate with the wrong weight.
- Assuming the current average already includes the last component, when it still counts separately.
活用シーン
- Working out how much effort your last test still requires.
- Deciding whether it is worth taking an optional final component.
- Setting a realistic personal target grade going into exam week.
よくある質問
What if the result is higher than 10?
Then your goal is no longer achievable with your current grades; 10 is the highest possible grade.
What does it mean if the result is lower than 1?
Then you have already reached your goal, even if you score the lowest possible mark on the last component; your average stays at or above your target.
Does this only work with a 1-10 scale?
No, the formula works with any scale (for example 0-20 or 0-100); only the "achievable" label and the maximum value differ per system, which you can judge yourself from the grade shown.
How is this different from a weighted average calculator?
A weighted average calculator works from grades to an end result; this calculator works the other way around, from your desired end result back to the grade you still need to achieve.
