Is this the official conversion universities use?
No. Institutions often use their own table or have the conversion done by a recognised agency; this is an indicative, linear estimate.
Why does a 6 produce a GPA of 2.22, not 2.4?
Because the scale runs from 1 to 10, not from 0 to 10. A grade of 1 equals a GPA of 0.0, so you subtract 1 first before scaling: (6 − 1) ÷ 9 × 4 = 2.22.
What is a good GPA on the American scale?
Generally, 3.5 or higher is considered strong and 3.0 is considered solid for most admissions, but the norm varies widely by institution and programme.
Can the GPA result be higher than 4.0?
