📊 Crypto ROI Calculator
ROI (Return on Investment) shows in a single percentage how your total crypto investment has performed, regardless of how many different coins, exchanges or purchase moments were involved. Enter what you invested in total and what your portfolio is worth now, and you instantly get your gain or loss in both currency and percentage.
Formula
ROI (%) = (current value − investment) ÷ investment × 100
You subtract your total investment from the current portfolio value; that difference is your gain or loss in currency. Divide that amount by the investment and multiply by 100 to express it as a percentage. An ROI of 100% means your investment has doubled, while an ROI of −50% means half your investment has evaporated.
Steps
- 1Enter the total amount you have put into crypto, across all coins and purchases, in the "Total invested" field.
- 2Enter what your whole portfolio is worth right now, at current prices, in the "Current value" field.
- 3Read your ROI in percent instantly, along with your gain or loss in currency and the calculation’s intermediate steps.
ROI at different price multiples
| Multiple | ROI | € 1,000 invested becomes |
|---|---|---|
| 1.5x | +50% | € 1,500 |
| 2x | +100% | € 2,000 |
| 3x | +200% | € 3,000 |
| 5x | +400% | € 5,000 |
| 10x | +900% | € 10,000 |
| 20x | +1,900% | € 20,000 |
This shows how a price multiple translates to ROI: doubling your money is +100% ROI, not +200%. These figures are an illustrative example, not a price forecast.
commonMistakes
- Confusing ROI with absolute profit; a high ROI on a small investment can yield less money than a low ROI on a large one.
- Only counting the most recent purchase instead of every deposit, which skews the whole portfolio's ROI too high or too low.
- Forgetting that trading fees, transaction costs and any tax still need to be subtracted from the gain before you know your net return.
useCases
- Seeing your whole portfolio's performance at a glance, even when it consists of dozens of coins and purchases.
- Comparing different crypto investments against each other to see which has performed best.
- Deciding whether it's time to take profit by seeing exactly how much percentage return is already on the table.
