Formula

Profit = (coins/day ร— price) โˆ’ ((watts รท 1000) ร— 24 ร— electricity price)

Revenue is simply the number of coins mined multiplied by the price. Power cost is converted from watts to kilowatts, multiplied by 24 hours, and multiplied by your price per kWh. The difference is your daily profit or loss.

Worked examples

0.0005 BTC/day at โ‚ฌ 58,000, 3000 W, โ‚ฌ 0.25/kWh

โ†’ Revenue โ‚ฌ 29, power cost โ‚ฌ 18, profit โ‚ฌ 11 per day.

Common mistakes

  • Only looking at revenue and forgetting power costs, especially at a high electricity price.

Limitations

  • Coins per day depends on network difficulty, which constantly changes; you need to keep this figure current yourself, for example via your mining pool.

When to use it

  • Assessing whether itโ€™s worth keeping mining hardware running.

Frequently asked questions

Why doesnโ€™t this calculator include live network difficulty?

There is no reliable free API for real-time difficulty per hardware type; your mining pool or software usually shows your current expected daily output.
