Formula

Tiles = (floor area ÷ area per tile) × (1 + margin)

You first calculate the area of one tile by multiplying length and width in centimetres and converting to square metres. Then you divide the floor area by that number and increase the result by the wastage margin. The final result is always rounded up, since you can’t order half a tile.
